The plot buyers of Unitech Limited, a real estate group, held a protest in front of its office at South City-1 on Saturday demanding immediate possessions of their plots they booked in 2011-12. The developer was supposed to hand possession of the plots in March 2013.
Though four years have passed since and the due date for handing possession long expired, the buyers see no hope in near future as the land still bears the barren look.
Sanjay Yadav, a buyer, said, “Unitech MD Ajay Chandra gave us a written assurance in July 2016 that our plots will be delivered latest by March 2017. But now we have no trust in them. We held a protest and threatened the management with a bigger protest and legal recourse. We will wait for 15 days for Unitech to reply. After that, we will lodge a police complaint and also move a petition at the National Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum.”
“In 2011, the Unitech came up with a big township, Wild Flower Country, which included small projects such as The Spruce of 70. We have already paid 90 per cent of the plot amount and are also paying installments to banks for the loans we took. We visit the site regularly, only to see the plots still lying vacant. Unitech has to lay sewer lines, water lines, build roads and meet other infrastructural requirements before giving possession,” Rajiv Bedi, another buyer, said.
According to buyers, Unitech promised to give possession of plots within 18 months of signing the agreement.
“We are worried about the hard-earned money that we invested in this township. I am 65 years old and most of the buyers are elderly. We have now threatened Unitech with a bigger movement if they don’t hand us possession of the plots,” Rajender Prasad Gupta, a plot buyer, said.
None of the Unitech executives replied to HT’s calls and messages.
